My Music Therapy!

“Without music, life would be a mistake.”  – Friedrich Nietzsche

Music is one of the best inventions that a man has made since the inception of mankind. It is the best way to unwind apart from reading books, IMO. It has therapeutic properties that flush out the negative in you. It can soothe your excited nerves, it can encourage you, it can just listen to you cry and say, “I understand” in ways that one cannot comprehend or it can echo your innermost thoughts and make you happy.

People have benefited from music therapy and I am no exception. I turn to it at all stages of my life. Here are some songs that have helped me through situations, not in any particular order:

    • All We’d Ever Need – Lady Antebellum: This song is slow, meaningful and tells the listener what inspirational quotes always do: Go after what you want. Chase it down.allwedeverneed
    • Zinda – Lootera: Live your life to the fullest! Live it such that you don’t have any regrets! Kabr par mere, sar uthake khadi ho zindagi, aise marna hai mujhe! (I want to die such that life stands proud at my grave.)Lootera_Cover_Art
    • Kabira – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Both versions of this song prompts the listener to go home. Go home and do not sever the ties. Go home before it is too late.yeh-jawaani-hai-deewani-0v
    • Bezubaan – ABCD: Though the film was not such a big hit, there are things that one can learn from it. For example, the spirit of never giving up. And the strength to keep going despite harsh circumstances.abcd-musicreview-big
    • Boulevard of Broken Dreams – Greenday: When you first listen to this song, you will definitely think of it as a self- pitying song by a person who is lost and does not seem to be able to find his way around the sleeping city. Yet, there is a wish by the person to be loved and acknowledged. Amidst all the drums and the bass, melancholy finds itself in the voice of the singer.Green_Day_-_Boulevard_of_Broken_Dreams_cover

Music. Peace. Love. Three entities that are so deeply interconnected, that sometimes you can see one in the other. Don’t quantify them. Just feel them.
